App Features & Usage
How do I create my first pizza recipe?
Tap the "+" button in the Recipes tab, select a template or start from scratch, then follow the guided recipe builder to input your ingredients and fermentation schedule.
What are the different fermentation stages?
Yeasto supports five main stages: Starter (if using preferments), First Rise (bulk fermentation), Ball (shaping), Cold Proof (refrigerated fermentation), and Final Proof (room temperature before baking).
How does the Q10 temperature modeling work?
Yeasto uses scientific Q10 temperature coefficients to automatically adjust fermentation times based on your environment temperature. Warmer temperatures speed up fermentation, while cooler temperatures slow it down.
iCloud Sync & Data Management
How do I enable iCloud sync?
Go to Settings in the app and toggle "iCloud Sync" on. Make sure you're signed into iCloud on your device. Your recipes and fermentation logs will sync across all your devices.
Is my data secure with iCloud sync?
Yes, all data is encrypted and stored in your personal iCloud account. Yeasto cannot access your data - it's protected by Apple's privacy policies and encryption.
What happens if I turn off iCloud sync?
Your data will remain on your device but won't sync to other devices. Existing iCloud data remains in your iCloud account but won't be updated by the app.
Live Activities & Notifications
How do Live Activities work?
Live Activities show real-time fermentation progress on your lock screen and Dynamic Island. They update automatically as your fermentation progresses through different stages.
Why aren't I receiving notifications?
Check that notifications are enabled in iOS Settings > Notifications > Yeasto. Also ensure the app has permission to send notifications and that Do Not Disturb isn't blocking them.
Recipe Management
Can I share recipes with others?
Yes, you can share recipes via the share button in any recipe. This creates a formatted text version that others can use to recreate your recipe.
How do I duplicate a recipe?
Open any recipe, tap the three dots menu, and select "Duplicate Recipe" to create a copy that you can modify.
What recipe templates are available?
Yeasto includes 15+ professional templates for Neapolitan, Roman, New York, Detroit, and Focaccia styles, each with different difficulty levels and time categories.
Troubleshooting
Sync Issues
My recipes aren't syncing between devices
- Ensure you're signed into the same iCloud account on all devices
- Check that iCloud Drive is enabled in iOS Settings > Apple ID > iCloud
- Try toggling iCloud sync off and back on in Yeasto Settings
- Restart the app and wait a few minutes for sync to complete
Notification Problems
I'm not getting fermentation reminders
- Check iOS Settings > Notifications > Yeasto and ensure notifications are enabled
- Verify that the specific fermentation run has notifications enabled
- Make sure your device isn't in Do Not Disturb mode
- Check that the app has background app refresh enabled
Timer/Tracking Issues
My fermentation timer seems inaccurate
- Verify the temperature settings in your recipe match your actual environment
- Check that you've selected the correct yeast type and method
- Ensure your device's time and date are set correctly
- Try restarting the fermentation run with updated settings
Performance Problems
The app is running slowly or crashing
- Close and restart the app
- Restart your device
- Check that you have sufficient storage space available
